Through innovation in their design to create an exciting and dynamic classroom teachers, school districts and administrators in Orange County have incorporated technology in many different curricular areas. Technology is no longer another subject but a vital and vibrant part of the educational environment. This mirrors the world that our students are experiencing and engaging in currently outside of schools. The Orange County Department of Education supports these efforts and applauds our schools in preparing students in the 21st Century. |
Astounding Inventions Students Appear on The Tonight Show
On March 17, 2010, three Orange County Astounding Inventions students appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. The students featured were:
- Isabella Garcia (The Pet Pal), 4th grader at Arroyo Elementary in North Tustin
- Evan Kim (Hair Today Gone Tomorrow), 5th grader at Santiago Hills Elementary in Irvine
- Maria Webster (The Cat Police), 2nd grader at Springbrook Elementary in Irvine

Reaching across the grade levels and into the classrooms the OC Animation project uses videoconference and web technologies to connect students with animation experts at major studios while building collaboration among students. |
Using technology the Assistive Technology Institute provides therapists, educators, parents, and persons with disabilities the opportunity to learn about and interact with assistive technology, its manufacturers, its users, and others with similar needs. ATI’s goal is to help enhance opportunities for learners from preschool to adult in order that they may compete and contribute in the twenty-first century. |
This collaborative program involved the Ocean Institute in Dana Point and three Orange County High Schools. It provided students with the opportunity to collect data and digital images and to produce educational podcasts designed to enhance the experience of future scientists. |
The Orange County Department of Education presents some of the most important authors of fiction for children and young adults live via videoconference and web cast to Orange County classrooms. Students interact with authors and learn more about selected writings. |
