District Projects

Anaheim City School District is embracing the new revolution in technology called Web 2.0 or the Read/Write Web. With this two-way web people are no longer simply retrievers of information, but providers and sharers of information. With the emergence of tools like RSS feeds, blogs, wikis, Podcasts, Google Earth, VoiceThread and Skype, students have the opportunity to interact with learners throughout the world. By joining the revolution, teachers can integrate these resources into their classrooms, break down walls and create a Global Classroom. The Global Classroom – Web2.0 is a program that will take students and teachers through this new revolution.

Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District’s Jennifer Bremer has begun to take history into the 21st Century. Her students are engaged in historical discussions in class and online at their classroom blog. Students express their ideas not only through written words online but with examples from movies, audio files and even interactive web2.0 avatars. Stop by this online classroom to see how history can come to life.

Understanding that teachers need to guide students into the 21st century Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District created a Professional Development Academy. One of their successful courses provides educators with tools to utilize web2.0 content for the instructional lessons. As educators work through the academy they are then asked to document their progress in the forms of blogs. Grab hold of the 21century at http://pylusdwebpilot.blogspot.com/.
